DHB Scholarship History
The Donna H. Barnard Charitable Foundation honors the legacy of Donna Barnard, a beloved chemistry teacher, coach, and mentor at Portland High School in Portland, Maine who was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2022 and passed away July 22, 2022. DHB Scholarships a 501c was established at that time.
As a student and athlete, coach, or teacher Donna dedicated 45 of her 55 years to the Portland School system, leaving an indelible mark on her community through her passion for teaching, coaching, and acts of kindness. A competitive runner and Hall of Fame athlete, she inspired countless students and athletes, and her impact extends beyond the classroom. The Foundation supports Portland High School students who exemplify Donna’s school spirit and character and aims to expand its reach to benefit communities everywhere, perpetuating Donna’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and community spirit.
